Tangible actions protecting the Pongolapoort Dam ecosystem
From surveillance technology to scientific research, our initiatives address the most pressing threats to the dam.
Proposing and facilitating a comprehensive hippopotamus census of the dam, supported by Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife (EKZNW) and the Department of Water & Sanitation (DWS).
Building and maintaining formal relationships with government bodies including EKZNW, DWS, uPhongolo Local Municipality, and DFFE to advocate for responsible dam management.
Actively participating in DFFE legislation review processes, particularly regarding "Access to Water Bodies by Small Scale Fishing Communities" policy affecting the dam.
In a short time, the PDSA has established itself as a critical voice for the dam's preservation.
Our work has been formally recognized by key government and conservation bodies across South Africa.
